Jacob Lodwick

Jacob Lodwick is a founder and digital architect whose vision has consistently shaped the evolution of internet culture.

Jacob is best known for creating Vimeo, the first self-serve video platform. Vimeo IPOd in 2021, and now serves millions of customers (and billions of viewers) every year.

Vimeo supplied an ad-free video experience differentiated on quality, and was embraced by artists, creatives, and visual professionals around the world. It also pioneered funamental social media features like Likes, HD streaming, Channels, and the algorithmic feed months/years before YouTube, Facebook, and other competitors of the Web 2.0 era.

Early in the 2000s, Jacob co-founded CollegeHumor (now Dropout) and scaled it from a dorm-room meme site to the internet's most enduring comedy brand.

As an angel investor and key early advisor, Jacob helped ignite the growth of Tumblr, which became the nexus of digital culture; MakerBot, which democratized desktop manufacturing; Bleacher Report, which disrupted sports media; and HowGood, which established the standard for supply chain intelligence.

Jacob is a founding investor and long-time advisor to BDG Media (owner of W Magazine).
